Morrison Stadium
The Creighton Soccer programs entered a new era in 2003 with the opening of an on-campus soccer facility, the Michael G. Morrison, S.J., Stadium. The Bluejays now enjoy playing home matches at the finest on-campus soccer venue in the nation.
The Arena Grass all-weather surface is the first of its kind in the United States and makes the playing surface at the stadium one of the finest in the country. With the downtown Omaha skyline to the south, Qwest Center Omaha to the east, Ryan Athletic Center to the north, Creighton campus expansion to the west, and just blocks from the Old Market, Morrison Stadium places student-athletes in the middle of it all.
Morrison Stadium’s seating capacity is 6,000. Construction on the stadium was completed in 2004 and the facility includes a state-of-the-art video scoreboard, team souvenir shop, covered chairback seating, luxury suites, enclosed press box, concession stands and banquet area.
Since moving into the facility, both programs have enjoyed record-settting attendance numbers, with the men leading the Missouri Valley Conference and ranking in the NCAA top 10 every year since 2003 and the women topping the MVC in attendance each of the past seven seasons. Before the start of the 2010 season, the men were 52-11-11 (.777) at Morrison Stadium, including 21-3-2 (.846) in Valley play, while the women were 47-14-9 (.736) overall and 14-3-4 (.762) in conference play at home since 2003.
The $13 million facility hosted its first match on Aug. 29, 2003 and was officially dedicated on Oct. 15, 2004.
Morrison Stadium has hosted the State Farm MVC Women's Soccer Championship five times (2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010) and the MVC Men's Championship twice (2004, 2007). The Bluejay men have also hosted seven NCAA Tournament matches at Morrison Stadium, with Creighton posting a 6-1-0 record at home in the NCAA postseason since 2003.
On July 13, 2010, the United States Women's National Team played a friendly against Sweden at Morrison Stadium, marking the first time the national team had played a match in Nebraska. The match was televised live on ESPN.
Each spring Morrison Stadium hosts the Kicks for a Cure event to help benefit cancer research.
